New Resource for Readers: NeedyMeds For Help With Medicines

Recently SOUL SHERPA® learned about an outreach program for those in need of help with the cost of their medicines.  Everyone knows even with insurance coverage, the price of many prescriptions can mean the difference between taking your medicine and getting by with one less meal a day.

NeedyMeds, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1997 by a physician concerned about patients unable to purchase their necessary medicines.  The organization provides a drug discount card that may be used if a drug is not covered by insurance, if you have no drug coverage, or if your low medicine cap has been met.  There is no fee or registration cost associated with NeedyMeds.  Your card will never expire, can be used as often as needed, and shared with friends and family.  It is accepted at over 63,000 pharmacies nationwide.

NeedyMeds cannot be used in combination with any government assistance programs or private insurance (for example, Medicare Part D.)

The website for this organization is www.needymeds.org

If you do not have access to the internet, NeedyMeds is based in Massachusetts.  Their address is NeedyMeds.org, P.O. Box 219, Gloucester, MA, 01931, telephone 978.281.6666.

We hope this information will help many of our readers and their loved ones.  SOUL SHERPA® would like to thank NeedyMeds’ director of outreach and education, Elizabeth Messenger, for providing us with this valuable information.
